Ostravában közben a Saab hozzászólt a V4-es radarvitához. Az álláspontjuk lényege az, hogy a sürgősség kész megoldást kíván, nincs idő helyi fejlesztésre:

"The following is a statement that Tobias Wennberg gave to the Czech media over the weekend at the NATO Days defence and air show in the Czech Republic. It concerns the proposed V4 radar project between Czech and Polish industry.

"Saab recognizes the ambition of V4 countries to develop a joint air defence radar system, which we perceive as a competitor to solutions provided by us and several other producers around the world. We do hope that we will get the chance to show in an open tender that we can provide a competitive solution, both in terms of price and the inclusion of local industry.

"We launched our next generation air defence radar system at the beginning of 2014 after more than 5 years of development, within a similar timeframe as some of our international competitors. With the utmost respect to the great expertise and skill of the local industry, we are afraid it is not realistic to produce such a sophisticated system considerably faster, as the need of V4 armed forces demand. Therefore, we see an open tender as more beneficial solution to the armed forces as well as for the taxpayers.

"Our radar is based on a building-block system, enabling to decide which parts could be sourced in cooperation with local partners. We believe that while the market is considerably saturated and a new unproven local system would inevitably face adverse conditions, our joint solution would be very competitive even outside of the V4 structure, further decreasing the burden of this project on state defence budgets.

"In our opinion, open tender would mean a win-win situation from the perspective of armed forces, national economies as well as local industry, which would have the opportunity to use its expertise within a strong international partnership, resulting in a state-of-the-art solution of major commercial potential."
